12"x12" watercolor, gouache + graphite on grey paper
I work directly from the model as opposed to photographs. There is an energy that transpires during these live sessions that is visceral, alive and unique. I have been painting gestural poses from the nude female since high school. I try to capture the beauty and ease of the female form. I work with swift strokes and make order out of chaos. Simplicity is the mark I strive for.
See the thumbnail of the split screen graphic from the movie, "Pillow Talk" starring Doris Day and Rock Hudson, from 1959...did you ever look closely at the Art hanging on the walls in the background?.......
I am always inspired by the cinema screen from yesteryear. With a whimsical play on movie sets and iconic imagery, I am playing with genres from the past and bringing them into the present where I present my work on relevant film sets and familiar photos.
Frame is not included.

Please note that inherent in the nature of my work, splashes, fingerprints, blobs and paint drops may appear. This is considered part of the work, as my work is done at live model sessions and I am working quickly. These markings on the work give character and show the moment in time when the Art was made. I leave these marks for this reason and consider them important to the work.
I am grateful for your patronage and hope that you enjoy my Art.
